Opening Saturday, October 11th, at 7pm, Aida is set to be the ultimate opera experience. Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, set in ancient Egypt, explores the intricate story of love, politics and war as captive and enslaved Ethiopian princess Aida, and Egyptian military commander Radamès find themselves entangled in a passionate love triangle
that tests each others’ loyalty to their homelands.
Bringing ancient Egypt to life on the PAC stage is no easy feat. Once again, Opera SLO has enlisted a Citywide Arts Collaboration comprised of several San Luis Obispo artists ensuring the performance will be a rich and remarkable one. Directed by Daniel Witzke, and produced by Opera SLO, Aida will feature more than 100 cast members, and a full orchestra in the pit. Opera SLO Artistic Director, Brian Asher Alhadeff will conduct the orchestra and choruses, featuring members of the Central Coast Children’s Choir, and Civic Ballet Artistic Director, Drew Silvaggio, will choreograph the ballet.
The leading cast of Aida has captured the talents of:
Tracy Cox as Aida; Ben Gulley as Radamès; Lauren Curnow as Amneris; Ralph Cato as Amonasro; Gabriel Vamvulescu as Ramfis; Ben Brady as King of Egypt; Jumi Kim as High Priestess; and Jonathan Tran as the Messenger.
